Ivy Hawn 5K/Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, October 19th. We are in need of volunteers to help out the day of and also to donate small water bottles. Every $10 spent is worth 1 volunteer hour. Please send them to the Middle School lobby with a copy of your receipt with first and last name by October 10th. The School Advisory Council (SAC) and Safety and Security Committee meet each month with the Principal and SAC Chair. All parents and community members are invited to attend our meetings at 5:00pm in the Cafetorium on the dates listed below. If you are interested in becoming a member of our SAC this school year, please contact Anna Ventura at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Attendance at these meetings are extremely important.
Ivy Hawn is proud to announce that we received recommendation for accreditation by AdvancED, a non-profit organization that conducts rigorous, on-site external reviews of Pre-K-12 schools and school systems. The external review team visited this week and were incredibly impressed by the authenticity of our school program. AdvancED reviews Standards for Quality, which are research-based, comprehensive quality statements that describe conditions and factors that contribute to a high caliber educational experience and operational effectiveness.
We here at Ivy Hawn are incredibly excited about our received recommendation and recognize that we would not be where we are today if it weren’t for our dedicated and committed students, staff, parents, community members, and other stakeholders. THANK YOU for believing in our mission and for allowing us to educate our future. This accomplishment is yet another milestone in our never-ending desire to continuously improve to better meet the needs of the students we serve.

On behalf of the faculty and staff at Ivy Hawn, I am happy to welcome you to the 2018-19 school year! We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/ she:
1) Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience 2) Completes all homework assignments given by teachers 3) Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills 4) Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life 5) Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject 6) Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and go on to college
Please consider joining our school volunteer program as our students can greatly benefit from your involvement and contributions to the school’s program and its operations. We seek volunteers to help us with the following activities:
1) Reading with children who need extra help 2) School-wide events 3) Student recognition events 4) Outreach and recruitment of parent and community volunteers
We have provided this Parent/Student Handbook so that you and your child can sit down and review this important information together. If you have any questions about the rules and expectations, please feel free to contact me or to discuss them with your child’s teacher. It is very important that you and your child are fully informed regarding standards related to appropriate behavior for a safe and productive school year. In the event of an unexpected, early school closure, students will be moved to Volusia Pines Elementary School at 500 E. Kicklighter Rd., Lake Helen. Parents will be informed of this move and instructed to pick their children up there.
All media operations that result from an emergency situation at Ivy Hawn Charter School of the Arts will be located at Lake Helen City Hall. Ivy Hawn has specific appointed staff to communicate with the media and represent Ivy Hawn.
