MAFS.8.F.2.4: Construct a function to model a linear relationship between two quantities. Determine the rate of change and initial value of the function from a description of a relationship or from two (x, y) values, including reading these from a table or from a graph. Interpret the rate of change and initial value of a linear function in terms of the situation it models, and in terms of its graph or a table of values.

• calculate the slope/rate of change from a table, graph, equation, or two points.
• write a linear function rule for a given relationship.
• describe the slope and y-intercept in terms of the situation.
Classroom Activities

Monday/Tuesday:

• We will do task cards together in which we find the rate of change and/or determine the initial value and its meaning from tables, graphs, and word problems.
• We will also continue to practicing working with fractions.
• Students will play Jeopardy games with fractions.

Wednesday:

• Students will finish any missing assignments for me or Mrs. Pujol.

Thursday:

• Pi Day!  Students will do rotations deriving Pi, calculating Pi using circumference and diameter, word search on Pi, and eating pie!
