Learning Targets and Learning Criteria
  • Students will review the formulas for area of rectangles, triangles, circles, trapezoids, kites, and rhombuses.
  • Students will use the distance formula to compute the perimeter and area given the coordinates of vertices of a polygon like triangle, square, rectangle, kite, rhombus, trapezoid, etc.
  • Students will be able to decompose more complex figures whose vertices are given using coordinates into familiar shapes that are easier to work with.
Classroom Activities


  • Students will take the DIA #3.


  • Students will create a foldable on Area Formulas.


  • Students will take notes on Area of Rectangles and Triangles and Area of Trapezoids and Kites on pages 43 and 44 of their ISN.
  • Students will do an Area of Composite Figures packet.
Assignments Due
  • Geometry DIA #3 due on February 11/12.
