MAFS. 912.F-IF.2.6: Calculate and interpret the average rate of change of a function (presented symbolically or as a table) over a specified interval. Estimate the rate of change from a graph.
MAFS.912.A-APR.2.3: Identify zeros of polynomials when suitable factorizations are available, and use the zeros to construct a rough graph of the function defined by the polynomial.

Bellringer: Number Sense Problem 24 (5 min)
Whole Group: Discuss project students will complete “Creating a Rollercoaster” using knowledge of functions
Small Group: Students will work with a small group to create a rollercoaster of a function in factored form. They will identify the function, the zeros, the behavior of the zeros, degree, leading coefficient, end behavior of the graph, and average rate of change between two points of their graph. They will also sketch their graph on graph paper.
