TeacherStephanie Durrance
Subject AreaAlgebra I Honors
Grade Level7th/8th
Week #2
Unit of InstructionUnit 4: Linear Equations, Functions, and Inequalities
Standard(s) Taught

MAFS.912.F-IF.1.3: Recognize that sequences are functions, sometimes defined recursively, whose domain is a subset of the integers.

MAFS.912.F-LE.1.2: Construct linear functions, including arithmetic sequences, given a graph, a description of a relationship, or two input-output pairs.

MAFS.912.F-BF.1.1a: Write a function that describes a relationship between two quantities. Determine an explicit expression, a recursive process, or steps for calculation from a context.

MAFS.912.S-ID.3.7: Interpret the slope (rate of change) and the intercept (constant term) of a linear model in the context of the data.

MAFS.912.F-LE.2.5: Interpret the parameters in a linear function in terms of a context.

MAFS.912.F-IF.3.7a: Graph functions expressed symbolically and show key features of the graph, by hand in simple cases and using technology for more complicated functions.

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

describe the algebraic process used to construct the linear function that passes through two points.

• decide if a graph, verbal description, data, or sets of ordered pairs models an arithmetic sequence (linear) and write the equation.

Classroom Activities

Bellringer: Number Sense Problem 27 (5 min)

Whole Group: Interactive Student Notebook (ISN) –  Arithmetic Sequences (30 min)

Small Group: Three rotations at 20 minutes each. (1 hour)
