Subject AreaAlgebra I Honors
Grade Level7th/8th
Week #4
Unit of InstructionUNIT 7: Polynomial Functions
Standard(s) Taught

MAFS.912.A-APR.1.1: Understand that polynomials form a system analogous to the integers, namely, they are closed under the operations of addition, subtraction, and multiplication; add, subtract, and multiply polynomials.

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

• apply arithmetic operations of addition, subtraction, and multiplication of polynomials and functions with integral coefficients and explain the properties used. • explain closure and understand that adding, subtracting, or multiplying two polynomials always produces a polynomial.

• apply the Remainder Theorem, when appropriate, to check the answer. • apply the Remainder Theorem to determine if a divisor is a factor of a polynomial. • explain the Remainder Theorem
