Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

Student Goals: 

  1. Discuss the impact of the British, French, Spanish, and Dutch on economic, political, cultural, and religious principles in colonial America.
  2. Examples: studying ways that economic, political, cultural, and religious competition between these Atlantic powers shaped early colonial America
  3. Examine the competition between the colonial powers to expand and control their claims in North America through economic, diplomatic, and military means.
  4. Compare and contrast life for the Native Americans before and after European colonial settlement. Examples: war, disease, loss of land, westward displacement of tribes causing increased conflict between tribes, and dependence on trade for European goods, including guns
Classroom Activities

We are getting back into the rhythm of our school schedule after hurricane Irma. I hope everyone is doing as well as they can be after that terrible storm. In US History we will try to get all of our students caught up on our curriculum. The past two weeks have made it very difficult, so we need to work diligently to try and get as much accomplished as we can. If for any reason I assign students homework and maybe you have not received power to your home please know that I will work with your child to get worked turned in as quickly as possible. I do not want you to stress or worry about homework or assignments because I understand returning to a normal routine in your home is most important at this time. Please message me on Remind or email me and let me know how I can assist you. 

As far as classroom activities we will work in groups to identify the interactions between the Native Americans, Dutch, French and Spanish. Groups will discuss each countries interactions and then come together whole group to see the differences. 

We will also read and work in our reflection booklets pg 33-36
