Unit of InstructionFocus 2: Proportional Relationships, Non-Proportional Relationships & Functions; Focus 3: Solving Linear Equations & Systems of Equations (Part I)
Standard(s) Taught

MAFS.8.F.1.1

Understand that a function is a rule that assigns to each input exactly one output. The graph of a function is the set of ordered pairs consisting of an input and the corresponding output.

MAFS.8.EE.3.7.b

Solve linear equations with rational number coefficients, including equations whose solutions require expanding expressions using the distributive property and collecting like terms.

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

I can:

  • Define, evaluate, and compare functions
  • Use functions to model relationships between quantities
  • Understand the connections between proportional relationships, lines, and linear equations
  • Analyze and solve linear equations and pairs of simultaneous linear equations
