Prove theorems about triangles; use theorems about triangles to solve problems. (Theorems include: measures of interior angles of a triangle sum to 180°; triangle inequality theorem; base angles of isosceles triangles are congruent; the segment joining midpoints of two sides of a triangle is parallel to the third side and half the length; the medians of a triangle meet at a point.)

Use the properties of similarity transformations to establish the AA criterion for two triangles to be similar.

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

• solve problems using definitions, theorems, postulates, about triangles, including:
a) Hinge Theorem.
b) The medians of a triangle meet at a point.

• show and explain that when two angle measures are known (AA), the third angle measure is also known (Third Angle Theorem).
• conclude and explain that AA, SSS, and SAS similarity are sufficient conditions for two triangles to be similar.
• distinguish between congruence and similarity theorems.

After DIA, learn about the Midsegment Theorem.

Notes will be distributed with Triangle Theorems for Unit 2B to all classes.  Geometry Nation Study Guides will only be distributed to Periods 7 & 8 since they do not have Geometry Nation Workbook.  Period 2 needs to bring Geometry Nation Workbook to every Geometry class.
