|Subject Area||Geometry Honors|
|Unit of Instruction||Unit 2B: Triangle Properties|
Prove theorems about triangles; use theorems about triangles to solve problems. (Theorems include: measures of interior angles of a triangle sum to 180°; triangle inequality theorem; base angles of isosceles triangles are congruent; the segment joining midpoints of two sides of a triangle is parallel to the third side and half the length; the medians of a triangle meet at a point.)
Use the properties of similarity transformations to establish the AA criterion for two triangles to be similar.
|Learning Targets and Learning Criteria|
• solve problems using definitions, theorems, postulates, about triangles, including:
• show and explain that when two angle measures are known (AA), the third angle measure is also known (Third Angle Theorem).
Monday (2nd Period) / Tuesday (7th & 8th Periods)
Turn in Homework:
District Assessment on Unit 1 (Definitions, Segments and Angle Pairs) and Unit 2A (Triangle Congruence and Proofs) – DIA. DIA will be a formative grade for all students.
After DIA, learn about the Midsegment Theorem.
Notes will be distributed with Triangle Theorems for Unit 2B to all classes. Geometry Nation Study Guides will only be distributed to Periods 7 & 8 since they do not have Geometry Nation Workbook. Period 2 needs to bring Geometry Nation Workbook to every Geometry class.
Complete Section 7, Topic 3: Triangle Midsegment Theorem – Part 1 of Geometry Nation Study Guide together in class.
Wednesday (Short Class Period due to Early Release)
Complete Section 7, Topic 4: Triangle MidSegment Theorem – Part 2 of Geometry Nation Study Guides together in class.
Thursday (2nd Period) / Friday (7th & 8th Periods)
Complete Geometry Nation Study Guides together in class:
Students with Geometry Nation Workbooks should bring them to every Geometry class.
Students need to bring Unit 2B Triangle Theorems Notes to every Geometry class.
Monday, Tuesday & Friday – 3:30pm – 4:30pm
No tutoring on Wednesday or Thursday this week.
