SS.A.8.3.9 Evaluate the structure, strengths, and weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation and its aspects that led to the Constitutional Convention.

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

Students will be able to:

  • Identify 6 of the 8 features of the Articles of Confederation
  • Identify at least 3 strengths and weaknesses of the Articles of Confedeation
  • Write a paragraph explaining why the Articles were replaced with the Constitution
Classroom Activities


Students will collaborate in experiencing the government under the Articles, and vote on a class snack. 

Students will then analyze the features of the Articles using placards around the room. 

Wednesday: Students will complete a worksheet on the various features of the Articles. When done, they will begin to work on the Chapter 7 workbook. 

Thursday/Friday: Students will be using technology to learn more about the AoC and the events that occurred under the government then and responding using the platform Nearpod.
