PE.4.C.2.2: Understand the importance of safety rules and procedures in all physical activities, especially those that are high risk. 

PE.4.C.2.8: Identify the importance of hydration before, during and after physical activity. 

PE.5.M.1.1: Apply locomotor skills in a variety of movement settings, while applying the appropriate movement concepts as the situation demands. 

PE.5.C.2.5: Detect, analyze and correct errors in personal movement patterns. 

 

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

Students will learn why it is important to stay hydrated during physical activity.

Students will understand why the heart beats quickly during physical activity. 

Students will know how to perform exercises with proper form and understand how to correct errors if they occur. 

 

Classroom Activities

Warm up exercises in our teams: Kick Backs, High Knees, Frog Jumps, Skip, Karaoke Side Shuffle. 

Exercise Centers: 2 minute rotation stations with your teams. Water after racing station.

Day 1 and 3: Push-ups, Jump Rope, Crab Walk Races.

Day 2 and 4: Push-ups, Hula Hoops and Bear Crawl Races. 

Discussion Questions: Why is staying hydrated during physical activity important? (Ex: Regulates body temperature to not get over heated.) Why does your heart beat faster during physical activity? What are the benefits to exercising? 

Assignments Due

Don’t forget to bring water bottles and wear sneakers. 

Take 5 minutes to practice our exercises when you are at home.

Assessment: Give 1 reason on why it’s important to stay hydrated during physical activity. Give 1 reason on why the heart beats faster during physcal activity. Perform all 5 exercises and create space from your teammates.
