Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

Students will sing using their singing voices.

Students will start learning Spring Performance Pieces and from the decade they are from (Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, etc.) 

Students will come up with their own movements to We are Dear Little Birdies. 

Students will learn about the different instrument families and what instruments are in them. 

Students will demonstrate their knowledge of the instrument families by playing a listening game.

Beat Buddy Exercise : finding and maintaining a steady beat

Using Singing voices:

  • We are Dear Little Birdies
  • Bluebird Bluebird
  • Shanghai Chicken

Kindergarten and 1st grade

  • Rocking Robin – will talk about rock in roll, the Jackson 5, and watch performance of Rockin’ Robin video
  • Learn song (echo sing) and add movement

Kindergarten and 2nd grade

  • Hound Dog – talk about Elvis Presley, Rock n’ Roll, watch performance video
  • Learn Song (echo sing) and add movement

Instrument Families

  • String Family
  • Woodwind Family
  • Brass Family
  • Percussion Family
    • Students will watch powerpoint presentation about each instrument family 
    • Students will then play a listening game with the instruments 
    • Teacher Assessment

Doggy Doggy Music Game if more time is needed.
