|Subject Area||Elementary Art|
|Unit of Instruction||Air-dry Clay Gnome Huts and Gnomes|
|Learning Targets and Learning Criteria|
• Today I will learn about FORM, so that I CAN create a three-dimensional gnome home and gnome by attaching different shapes of AIR DRY CLAY.
We will discuss gnomes and gnome huts. Students will be able to use various resources for inspiration including handouts and researching on their Kindles. Students will then create an armature for their huts from cardboard. They will experiment with the clay to best create the roof, base, and various details from coils, spheres, and slabs. Next, students will make their gnomes by attaching different shapes together. Last, students will paint their gnomes and huts. We may be painting a background and foreground if there is time. Students will upload their work on Artsonia along with a statement.
