Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

• Today I will learn about LINE and SHAPE, so that I CAN draw and cut out the outline of an animal.
• Today I will learn about CONTOUR, so that I CAN follow the contour of my animal using dots of Tempera paint. 
• Today I will learn about Australian Aboriginal Dot Art and Australian painter, Clifford Possom Tjapaltjarri, so that I CAN create my own artwork inspired by this style using dots of Tempera paint.

Classroom Activities

Students will learn about the history of Australian Aboriginal Dot Art and the use of symbolism in their artwork. They will also learn about Australian painter, Clifford Possom Tjapaltjarri. They will then research animals and draw its silhouette onto construction paper, cut it out, and glue to a black piece of construction paper. Using Tempera paint and sticks, students will dot the designs on their papers.  Finally students will upload their artwork on Artsonia along with an artist statement.
