Learning Targets and Learning Criteria
  • I can use disk  tempera  effectively to paint by background with colors inspired from daylight or twilight. 
  • I can create the implied texture of a dandelion with line.
  • I can create a silhouette with proportions in mind of facial features and a hand.
  • I can create the illusion of movements with placement of my lines.
Classroom Activities

Students will sketch a profile and hand silhouette. They will also sketch in seed heads and loose seeds blowing away. Students will then paint their backgrounds using disk tempera and sprinkle some water droplets while the paint is partially dry. Next, they will paint the silhouette and use sharpie markers for the fine details of the dandelion seeds. Last, students will add in a poem or wishes  to their dandelions. Students will upload their artwork to Artsonia along with a title and statement.

Students will have an assembly from a spoken word poet to help inspire them. They will create artwork to demonstrate what positive message they learned.
