Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

• Today I will learn about LINE and SHAPE so that I CAN draw a rooster in the Surrealist style of Pablo Picasso.
• Today I will learn about COLOR, so that I CAN blend chalk pastels to color in my rooster drawing achieving vibrant hues.
• Today I will learn about CONTRAST, so that I CAN outline and/or add patterns with oil pastel to my drawing to make the shapes and colors stand out.

Classroom Activities

Students will learn about artist Pable Picasso and the Surrealist art style. They will sketch out their design on black construction paper and use chalk pastels to color it. Last, they will outline or add patterns with oil pastels. Students will share their work, title, and statement on Artsonia.
