Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

• Today I will learn about SHAPES, so that I CAN make a turkey with a head, beak,  and
feathers. I know I’ll have it when my bird has a different shape for his head, legs,  and his
body. I will learn that some shapes have curved lines and other shapes have straight lines.
• Today I will learn about LINES, so that I CAN make decorations on my turkey using OIL PASTEL.
• Today I will learn about PATTERN, so that I CAN use repeated lines and shapes in my design.

  • Today I will learn about primary and secondary colors so that I can create feathers in the order of the rainbow.
Classroom Activities

We will watch a video about primary colors and the colors of the rainbow. Afterwards students will create a turkey using line, shapes, patterns, oil pastels, and tempera paint to create their turkey from a directed drawing. Students will mix their own paint to create  the secondary colors of the rainbow and choose their own pattern design for the feathers. Upon completion, students will upload their work on Artsonia.
