Van Gogh Sunflower

Today I will learn about artist Vincent Van Gogh, so that I can create a sunflower inspired by his artwork. 

Today I will learn about color, so that I can use a washable marker and color my coffee filter in different lines and scribbles and watch the color spread as I spray it with water.  

Today I will learn about Space and make sunflowers for a collaborative piece for the Volusia County Fair and place larger ones toward the foreground and space them further apart so that some flowers appear closer than others.

 

Classroom Activities

Students will begin to create their Square1 artwork. We will discuss how artists can impact the way things the way items for sale look and the difference between artwork, things we use, and objects from nature. 

We will review the Elements of Art and discuss Line, Shape, and Texture. They will learn about real verse implied texture. Students will also learn about Ostrich’s and we will discuss their features and what kinds of lines and shapes they see. We will then begin drawing an ostrich with oil pastels. Students will draw  lines going in different directions; such as diagonal, horizontal, and vertical.These lines together will give the implied texture of the ostrich’s feathers. Students can choose from various colors to create their ostrich.Upon completion, students will upload their work and add a title to Artsonia. 

Van Gogh Sunflower
Students will learn about Vincent Van Gogh and create their sunflowers from coffee filters. These will be combined for display at our booth at the Volusia County Fair.
