Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

• Today I will learn about LINE and SHAPE, so that I CAN paint a sunflower with tempera paint
• Today I will learn about COLOR, so that I CAN use TEMPERA PAINT effectively to paint my sunflower drawing. I’ll know I have it when you can see short choppy brushstrokes of color.
• Today I will learn about TEXTURE, so that I CAN use oil pastels to make my sunflower appear as if it has real texture.  

Classroom Activities

Students will learn about artist Vincent Van Gogh and discuss some of his artworks.  We will also discuss places where artists or designers have made an impact on the community and where we can go to see artwork on display. Students will then use tempera paint and oil pastels to create a 3D sunflower for a collaborative project for the Volusia County Fair.
