Learning Targets and Learning Criteria
  • Today I will learn about COLOR, so that I can identify WARM or COOL COLORS to create my background.I’ll know I have it when my background is all WARM OR COOL COLORS.
  • Today I will learn about WATERCOLOR, so that I CAN use a WET-ON-WET TECHNIQUE when applying paint to my background. I’ll know I have it when my background is washy.
  • Today I will learn about LINE and TEXTURE, so that I can create the look of fur on my mouse and fluffy grass in the foreground.
  • Today I will learn about PATTERN, so that I can use repeated LINES and SHAPES on my mushrooms to create my own PATTERN.
  • Today I will learn about FORM, so that I can add media and leaves to make my artwork 3-D.
Classroom Activities

Students will draw a mouse, mushrooms, and leaves, as well as create a unique pattern on their mushrooms. They will use watercolor paint; painting the background by blending analogous colors. Students will cut and paste leaves and may add different media to their work to make it 3D. Upon completion, students will upload their work to Artsonia, along with an artist statement.
