Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

• Today I will learn about COLLAGE, so that I CAN use different materials to make a
COMPOSITION inspired by artist JIM DINE.
• Today I will learn about UNITY & VARIETY, so that I CAN use many different materials and
techniques for the same shape: hearts.
• Today I will learn about TEXTURE, so that I CAN create multiple ACTUAL textures with my
media choices.

Classroom Activities

Students will learn about artist, Jim Dine and create 4 hearts inspired by his work.  They will rotate centers and use different techniques and  have different lessons at each station. 1. Oil Pastel resist with watercolor.  2. Metallic oil pastels covered with tempera paint and scratch patterns revealing the metallic underneath. 3. Layering tissue paper to create a textures heart. 4. Mixed media; students can choose from a variety of media and use it in their design how they choose. 

Students will upload their artwork to Artsonia along with a statement.
