SC.3.L.14.2 – Investigate and describe how plants respond to stimuli (heat, light, gravity), such as the way plant stems grow toward light and their roots grow downward in response to gravity.

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

Students will learn about weighing and measuring pumpkins.

Classroom Activities

Students will learn the difference between carving pumpkins and pie pumpkins.  The will also learn about pumpkin growing season, the importance of the pumpkin’s canopy of leaves, and on average, how many carving pumpkins are grown in the United States each year.  All this in preparation for our BIG pumpkinology project.
