|Week #||Q1 W7|
|Unit of Instruction||Ice Cream Anyone???|
|Learning Targets and Learning Criteria|
We learned how to make homemade ice cream! 🙂 Thank you to the many parents who sent supplies to make our ice cream unit such a success, we appreciate you!
As our dairy unit continues, our students explored making ice cream with their classmates. I’ve included the recipe if you’d like to try it at home. It surely made for exciting times in class. 🙂
1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 1/4 cup milk, 1/2 cup salt, 1 quart bag of ice (half full).
Put sugar, vanilla extract, and milk in a quart size ziploc freezer bag and seal making sure to get all air out. Then pour the salt into the bag with the ice and put the bag with the milk into the ice bag. It will be snuggly, but it should all fit. Here’s where the family fun begins! Take turns shaking the bag for the next 8-10 minutes until the mixture turns to ice cream. 🙂 Add your favorite toppings and enjoy!
