·         LAFS.5.RL.3.7: Analyze how visual and multimedia elements contribute to the meaning, tone, or beauty of a text (e.g., graphic novel, multimedia presentation of fiction, folktale, myth, poem).

·         LAFS.5.RL.1.1: Quote accurately from a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text.

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

·         Students will provide an analysis of how a multimedia presentation contributes to the meaning, tone or beauty of a text (e.g., graphic novel, multimedia presentation of fiction, folktale, myth, and poem).

·         Students will provide a summary of the text.

Classroom Activities

·         Small group learning centers – students will work in small groups to further enhance concepts introduced in whole group instruction. Center rotations include reading, writing, computer work (ThinkCERCA & ixl), vocabulary, ipads (ixl), and teacher conferencing/small groups instruction for further individualized work (writing conferencing, main idea practice).

·         Rti – Daily – istation and individual and small group support and re-teaching
