  • Read The Giving Tree; based on events in the story, define the word “giving”
  • Answer text-based questions about the story
  • Work independently to explain who is giving to you and how you can be giving to others
  • Research the 66-day journey of the Mayflower. Write one or more journal entries from the point of view of a Pilgrim traveling to America on the Mayflower. 
  • Imagine a modernized version of such a journey. Create plans for this journey by thinking what would you consider a “New World”, how would you get there, why are you going, what supplies do you need, how much food, etc. Consider how people would feel before, during, and after the journey.
