Students will:

·         Provide references to details and/or examples in a text when explaining what the text says explicitly.

 

·         Provide references to details and/or examples in a text when explaining what inferences drawn from the text.

 

 

Classroom Activities

 

*Students will research a Hispanic historical figure and write an informative essay about that person.

*The students will “adopt” a city from Latin America and display photos of people and places, as well as a clock set to the local time.  Students will also report on local news events.

*Various folktales from Spanish-speaking countries will be read in class.  The students will then write their own folktales based on the traditions of these stories.

Assignments Due

The students will complete the following assignments in class:

-Informative essay on a Hispanic historical figure

-Adopt a City project

-Writing a folktale

 

Homework: The homework for Monday-Thursday is to Read and Respond.  Students should be reading for approximately 20 minutes each night and then writing a written response about the part of the text that they have read.

 

The spelling test is on Friday, October 12th.
