|Learning Targets and Learning Criteria|
-Read poem “I Am Thankful” and identify theme.
-Discussion of poetry format and use of figurative language.
-Identify explorers who came from other countries to Florida.
Read poem “I am Thankful” by Jack Prelutsky.
Students will write their own “I am Thankful” poem using the same format as the author. Students will hand write or type the poem and decorate the border.
Read aloud and discuss explorers in articles from SS Weekly.
Students will also be writing cinquains for a poetry “accordian” booklet and haikus for a poetry “light box.”
These will stretch into next week:
