Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

1. Demonstrate, without prompting, proper class procesdures, etiquettes, and expectations as they apply to a dance class.

2. Develop an understanding of body placement, alignment, and movement.

3. Learn basic dance technique in ballet and jazz.

4. Use accurate dance and body terminology.

Classroom Activities

This quarter we will focus on the technique of ballet and jazz. We will begin each class with a warm up, alternating those styles and will move on to across the floor and center.

On Wednesdays, we will typically do vocabulary learning and/or conditioning for dance.

We will also begin learning choreography for our Veteran’s Day Show!

Assignments Due

Dancers will receive a daily participation grade, for a total of 15 points per week. This grade will include dancers’ attitudes, effort, and etiquette for dance class.

A vocabulary test will be given this quarter as well as a skills assessment.
