Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

During this quarter, we will be focusing on two very important shows: Veteran’s Day and Nutcracker with a Twist. Dancers will be learning choreography for multiple dances, working to clean each piece of choreography through technicality and musicality, and learning about performance quality. Their vocabulary in dance will expand with the added choreography and they will learn about stage direction.

Classroom Activities

Each class day will begin with a dance warm up. We will review choreography already learned, clean it, and move on to new choreography. We will try on costumes, learn about makeup and hair for dance, and get to work on the stage to prepare for the shows.

Assignments Due

Class participation is a big part of dancers’ grades. Each performance will count as a summative grade. We will complete peer and self critiques in class, and do a written reflection after each performance.

We will have a vocabulary test combining units 1 and 2 from last quarter as well.
