Big Idea: Skills, Techniques, and Processes; Enduring Understanding 2: Development of skills, techniques, and processes in the arts strengthens our ability to remember, focus on, process, and sequence information. TH.68.S.2.4: Memorize and present a character’s lines from a monologue or scene. AND Enduring Understanding 3: Through purposeful practice, artists lean to manage, master, and refine simple, then complex, skills and techniques. TH.68.S.3.1: Develop characterizations, using basic acting skills, appropriate for selected dramatizations.
Big Idea: Organizational Structure; Enduring Understanding 1: Understanding the organizational structure of an art form provides a foundation for appreciation of artistic work and respect for the creative process; TH.68.O.1.1: Compare different processes an actor uses to prepare for a performance.
|Learning Targets and Learning Criteria|
Students will continue to work on beginning scenes with small group.
Students will finish Artistic Version of Creativity Mind Map OR Cultural Map and Turn in on Wednesday, August 30 for grading
Students will focus on the process and skill of projection for the stage.
Monday/Tuesday: Students will rehearse scenes using critiques and re-show class to show use of feedback. Students will begin projection unit.
Wednesday: Students will participate in projection exercises to strengthen their skills. Artistic Versions of Creativity and Cultural Maps are due today!
Thursday: Students will continue work on scenes utilizing projection techniques. Written self-reflection on projection due after lesson.
Wednesday, Aug 30: All Artistic Versions of Creativity or Cultural Mind Maps due for grading.
Self Reflection on projection due Thursday for 1 & 4 periods; Tuesday for 5, 6, & 8 periods.
Scene Performance for a grade due: Tuesday, Sept. 5, Wednesday, Sept. 4, and Thursday, Sept. 7, and Friday, Sept 8 as needed.
