Students will continue to rehearse their first group scene adding props and simple costume pieces.

Students will understand the different types of stages used in Theater.

Students will review auditioning techniques and practice the process of auditioning.

Classroom Activities

Monday/Tuesday:

  1. Journal entry:  No write Journal! Please review these Vocabulary terms with a partner. Make sure you have a clear understanding of where each area of the stage is located and why Upstage and Downstage are labeled as such.
  2. Review areas of the stage with warm up game
  3. Discuss different types of theaters and give picture examples
  4. 15 minutes of Rehearsal and planning for costumes/props on Wed.
  5. Large Group Game: Ensemble
  6. Exit Ticket: Pick one of the types of theaters explained, how would this kind of theater change the way an actor works? (3 bullet points or short paragraph)

Wednesday: 

  1. Journal Entry: Please complete the given Character worksheet for your scene character!
  2. Review Positive Group Points and Rewards system (added)
  3. Rehearsal of Group scene and adding simple costume pieces and properties
  4. Large Group Game: Ensemble
  5. Exit Ticket: How do costuming and props change a scene? give 3 short answers

Thursday/Friday:

  1. Journal Entry: (No Write Journal) With a partner, plan a short pantomime activity. For example: Baking a cake; Playing basketball, Painting a portrait, etc.. Please make sure you have a SHORT! pantomime scene 30 sec. to 1 min long. 
  2. Small Group Activity: Rehearsal of Scenes (15-20 min)
  3. Performance of scenes for positive critique
  4. Blocking: some things to think about with Worksheet (missed last week! Add this week)
  5. Large Group Game: Ensemble (If time allows!)
  6. Exit Ticket: Reflect on your pantomime or scene. What could make it better? 
Assignments Due

Monday/Tuesday: Quiz on Areas of the Stage; Exit Ticket on types of theatres

Wednesday: Journal Entry; Exit Ticket

Thursday/Friday: Pantomime-Journal Entry; Blocking Worksheet;  Exit Ticket/reflection
