MAFS.7.RP.1.1:  Compute unit rates associated with ratios of fractions (including ratios of lengths, areas, and other quantities measured in like or different units).

MAFS.7.RP.1.2:  Recognize and represent proportional relationships between quantities.  Decide whether two quantities are in a proportional relationship.  Identify the constant of proportionality and represent proportional relationships by equations.

MAFS.7.RP.1.3:  Use proportional relationships to solve multi-step ratio and percent problems, including simple interest, tax, markups and markdowns, gratuities and commissions, fees, percent increase and decrease, and percent error.

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria
  • Students will use proportional reasoning to solve real-world percent problems, including those with multiple steps, such as markups, markdowns, commissions, and fees.
  • Students will recall how to convert from ratio to decimal to percent form.
  • Students will solve percent of increase/decrease problems.
  • Students will be able to find the constant of proportionality from an equation, from a graph, from a table, or in a word problem.
  • Students will create equivalent ratios.
  • Students will determine whether two quantities are proportional.
Classroom Activities

Monday:

  • We will review adding and subtracting positive and negative numbers.
  • Students will complete a Subtracting Integers worksheet.

Wednesday:

  • Students will do some Kahoots! on adding and subtracting with negative numbers.

Thursday:

  • Students will work on iReady for 45 minutes.
  • Students will do a worksheet on creating equivalent ratios.

 

 

Assignments Due
  • Equivalent ratios worksheet due by January 14.
