MAFS.7.RP.1.3:  Use proportional relationships to solve multi-step ratio and percent problems. Use proportional relationships to solve real-world problems such as simple interest, tax, markups and markdowns, gratuities and commissions, fees, percent increase and decrease, etc.

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria
  • Students will be able to use proportional reasoning to solve real-world ratio problems, including those with multiple steps.
  • Students will be able to use proportional reasoning to solve real-world percent problems such as markups, markdowns, commissions, and fees.
  • Students will be able to solve percent problems when one quantity is a certain percent more or less than another.
  • Students will recall conversion of percents from ratio to decimal to percent form.
Classroom Activities

Monday:

  • We will learn how to calculate simple interest and complete Doodle Notes.
  • We will talk about practical applications of interest and how we can earn interest on money.

Wednesday:  

  • Students will do a worksheet on Interest Word Problems.

Thursday:

  • Students will do 45 minutes on iReady.
  • Students will finish their Interest problems.
  • If time, we will do a kahoot! or quizizz on Interest.
Assignments Due
  • Interest word problems due on February 14.
  • iReady quiz due on February 14.
