MAFS.7.G.2.6  Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving area, volume, and surface area of two- and three-dimensional objects composed of triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, cubes, and right prisms.

MAFS.7.G.1.3  Describe the two-dimensional figures that result from slicing three-dimensional figures, as in plane sections of right rectangular prisms and right rectangular pyramids.

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

Students will:

• determine the area of two-dimensional figures (triangles and quadrilaterals).

• determine the surface area and volume of three- dimensional figures.

• solve real-world problems involving area, surface area and volume.

• solve problems involving a missing dimension of a geometric figure.

• discover the two-dimensional shapes that result from slicing three-dimensional figures.

• develop three-dimensional visualization skills as they see the resulting two-dimensional shapes.

2. Cross-sections of 3-D Figures – close notes and guided practice

4. Math Space homework assigned for weekend – Volume Practice (8 questions) and Cross-section Practice (6 questions).

Test on Volume & Cross-Sections will be on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
