LAFS.7.RI.3.8: Trace and evaluate the argument and specific claims in a text, assessing whether the reasoning is sound and the evidence is relevant and sufficient to support the claims.
LAFS.7.SL.1.3: Delineate a speaker’s argument and specific claims, evaluating the soundness of the reasoning and the relevance and sufficiency of the evidence.

Learning Targets:
 – Students will analyze the argument in a model essay.
 – Students will write arguments to support claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence. 
 – Students will produce clear and coherent writing that is appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.
 – Students will explain what it means to write a coherent argument essay with appropriate structure and relevant evidence.

Classroom Activities

Monday, October 28th: Peer review of argumentative essays.  Group revisions.
Tuesday, October 29th: Call of the Wild
Wednesday, October 30th: Individual meetings regarding argumentative essays/stations (IXL, iReady, Newela.)
Thursday, October 31st: History of Halloween article and creative writing.
Friday, November 1st: Argumentative essay revision day.
