Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

 – Students will review organizational patterns of an explanatory essay.
 – In order for students to have a clear understanding of The Florida Everglades, students will read texts, watch films, and conduct online research.
 – Students will:
 – Introduce a topic clearly.
 – Organize ideas, concepts, and information.
 – Create an introduction.
 – Outline body paragraphs.
 – Create a conclusion.

Classroom Activities

Monday, January 13 – Explore The Florida Everglades.
Tuesday, January 14 – Read two articles about The Florida Everglades and create explanatory essay introduction.
Wednesday, January 15 – Periods 1, 2, & 3 = Novel Study & Periods 5, 6, & 7 = Organizing information and ideas.
Thursday, January 16 – Create body paragraphs for explanatory essay.
Friday, January 17 – Spelling/Vocabulary
Write conclusion for explanatory essay.
