LAFS.7.W.1.2: Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas, concepts, and information through the selection, organization, and analysis of relevant content. LAFS.7.W.2.4: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.
|Learning Targets and Learning Criteria|
In this unit students will learn techniques for great informational and explanatory writing, including how to organize their ideas, how to use effective transitions, and how to craft strong introductions and conclusions.
Monday, January 14 – Students will read mentor texts on the Problem & Solution structure as well as Compare & Contrast. Students will uncover the main idea, hook, thesis statement, transition words, and evaluate the conclusion.
Friday, January 18 – Spelling Test
