Classroom Activities

Review the reading test from last week using numbered heads together to discuss test taking strategies and support answers.

Students will read Jenna and the Black Cat from Read Works to practice comprehension and theme.

Students will take the district reading DIA on the computer Tuesday.


Students will conduct research on a zoo of their choice and create an informational brochure about the zoo in PowerPoint.  If time, students will present their brochures to the class.  

Students will read informational sources about animals and language.  Students will practice close reading strategies by marking the text.  Students will answer comprehension questions after reading the sources and write an argumentative paragraph on whether or not they agree with the claim, animals can learn or use language.

Assignments Due

All ThinkCERCA baseline testing and assignments from quarter 1 should be submitted by Friday 10/13.

The last day to submit the zoo brochure project for extra credit is Friday 10/13.
