Students will compare one author’s perspective to another’s on the same topic.
Students will cite evidence from the text to support what the text says.
Students will identify a claim and clear reasons and evidence to support the claim.
Students will write arguments to support claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence.
Students will determine the author’s point of view and how it is conveyed in the text.
Students will determine the meanings of words and phrases.
Read “Wild Animals Aren’t Pets/Let People Own Exotic Animals” from Collections Textbook:
-PowerPoint on support, reasoning, and evidence
-Students will read the text on pg.223 and identify the argument, claims, reasoning, and evidence of each text.
-Students will complete assigned questions covering both texts to discuss answers with their team from pg. 226, 229, and 230. All students will be responsible for answering #5 on pg. 226 (this may be pushed to next week).
ThinkCERCA Baseline Testing
-Students will be provided with logins and an overview/review of the ThinkCERCA platform.
-Students will complete baseline testing for reading and writing over the course of two days which will be used as a diagnostic. These assignments will be assigned to their platform.
When a student is absent, it is their responsibility to check the absent bin and copy notes from a peer. Students will have the number of days absent to complete missing work. If you need the PowerPoint or any assignments emailed, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
