Students will write arguments to support claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence.
Students will determine the author’s point of view and how it is conveyed in the text.
**Pass back graded work and review grades. Students will look at a model summary and a non-example.
Finish Wild Animals Aren’t Pets/Let People Own Exotic Animals text set in FL Collections:
-Students will complete the vocabulary questions on pg. 231. If needed students will finish question #5 from pg. 226.
-Argumentative Writing Performance Task: Students will determine their personal claim on the topic with supporting evidence from the text.
-Vocabulary word art for words from the article.
-Students will take a comprehension test on the text on Wednesday.
-Students will read a 9/11 article and story about a student named Osama. Students will discuss how to remember victims and heroes of 9.11 along with the issue of bullying and intolerance. Students will also create a memorial flag or picture to display in the classroom.
-Any summary taken home to revise should be turned in on Tuesday.
-Argumentative Writing Performance Task on Tuesday
-Students will take a test on Wild Animals Aren’t Pets/Let People Own Exotic Animals. This will occur on Wednesday unless otherwise noted.
-All ThinkCERCA baseline testing not completed in class on 8/30 and 8/31 should be done as homework by the end of this week. The assignments will appear on the dashboard.
