Learning Targets: 

• fluently add and subtract multi-digit decimals using the standard algorithm.
• fluently multiply multi-digit decimals using the standard algorithm.
• fluently divide multi-digit decimals using the standard algorithm.
• “bring down” the next digit in the algorithm, and understand that I am distributing, recording, and shifting to the next place value.


Classroom Activities

We are wrapping up fractions and starting with our decimal unit. We will be using both notebook activities and MathSpace/Practice assignments to master these skills. 

Assignments Due

Students were given the first quarterly project last week. In this project, students will be creating a recipe book and manipulating the fractions within the recipes they choose. Please see attached for the rubric and project instructions. This is due on Friday, October 13.

Students have an assignment on Mathspace due this week entitled “Decimal Practice #1 (Friday Assignment)” The due date for this assignment is Friday, October 6.

If additional help is needed, students are encouraged to view a lesson regarding a given topic on Khan Academy. This website is free and provides both video instruction as well as practice problems. www.khanacademy.org

Students are able to complete additional practice on both Mathspace and IXL
