Compare properties of two functions each represented in a different way (algebraically, graphically, numerically in tables, or by verbal descriptions).
Interpret the equation y = mx + b as defining a linear function, whose graph is a straight line; give examples of functions that are not linear.

• determine the properties of a function written in algebraic form (e.g., rate of change, meaning of y-intercept, linear, non-linear)
• explain why the equation y = mx + b represents a linear function and interpret the slope and y-intercept in relation to the function.
This week we were focused on Functions! We started with “what is a function” and continued on into slope-intercept formula.
We have begun our 2018 Math Olympics (FSA Review Project) This will be partly done in class and at home and is due on Wednesday April 18, 2018. Please see attached for further information regarding this project.

Students were to complete the following assignments in IXL to practice the concepts we covered in class:
(8th Grade) Lesson Y6 and Y8 Due Thursday 3/29/18
Mathspace Homework is also due on Thursday, 3/29/18 “Function Homework”
It is suggested that students complete the IXL before the Mathspace to help score better on their homework assignment.
If additional help is needed, students are encouraged to view a lesson regarding a given topic on Khan Academy. This website is free and provides both video instruction as well as practice problems.
Students are able to complete additional practice on both MathSpace and IXL.
