Unit of InstructionForce and Motion
Standard(s) Taught

SC.6.P.13.1 (DOS Level 2) Investigate and describe types of forces including contact forces and forces acting at a distance, such as electrical, magnetic, and gravitational.

SC.6.P.13.2 (DOS Level 1) Explore the Law of Gravity by recognizing that every object exerts gravitational force on every other object and that the force depends on how much mass the objects have and how far apart they are.

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

Students will be assessed on the DIA 1

Students will: • investigate and describe types of forces, including:  Forces at a distance: electrical, magnetic, and gravitational contact forces: normal, applied, friction

Students will: • explore the Law of Gravity by recognizing that every object exerts gravitational force on every other object and that force depends on how much mass the objects have and how far apart they are.

Classroom Activities

Students will take DIA #1 on either Mon or Tues

Students will participate in a lab to explore magnetic, electrical, and gravitational forces

Students will explore the Law of Gravity through a forces lab.

Assignments Due

Students need to study their ISN and the Nearpod for the DIA on Mon or Tues.
