Unit of InstructionForces and Motion
Standard(s) Taught

SC.6.P.13.3 (DOS Level 2) Investigate and describe that an unbalanced force acting on an object changes its speed, or direction of motion, or both.

SC.6.P.12.1 (DOS Level 3) Measure and graph distance versus time for an object moving at a constant speed. Interpret this relationship.

SC.6.N.1.2 (DOS Level 3) Explain why scientific investigations should be replicable.

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

Students will:

• measure and graph distance versus time for an object moving at a constant speed

• analyze and interpret graphs and data tables of distance and time for an object moving at a constant speed

• compare and interpret data of no more than five objects moving at constant speed

• explain why scientific investigation should be replicable

• measure and graph distance versus time for an object moving at a constant speed

Classroom Activities

Students will participate in a balloon launch lab

Students will simulate force and motion using  Phetlabs

Students will participate in the Newton’s Wild Ride lab.

Reassessments will occur for students who need them on Wednesday.

Test review for DIA 2 will be on Thurs/ Fri

Assignments Due

Study the materials we highlighted in class on Thurs or Fri. The DIA #2 will be on Mon/Tues of next week ( 10/7 and 10/8)
