Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

Students will provide an analysis of how a particular sentence, chapter, scene or stanza contributes to the development of the theme, setting or plot. (RL.2.5)

Students will provide a comparison and contrast of texts in different forms in terms of their approaches to similar themes and topics. (RL.2.6

Students will:

  • Analyze the purpose of specific sentences, paragraphs, chapters, or sections on the overall structure and meaning.
  • Focus on how specific structural elements work together and/or help to develop ideas. (RL.2.5)
  • Determine the author’s point of view or purpose in a text & to explain the strategies the author uses to convey point of view/purpose. (RL.2.6)
  • Ensure that pronouns are in the proper case (subjective, objective, possessive)

This year we are using Seesaw to share the books that your children are reading! For homework, the students should be reading for 20 minutes.  They may read non-fiction, fiction, magazines, graphic novels, favorite educational blogs,  autobiographies, etc.  They should finish and change what they are reading every week/couple of weeks. Your child will post to Seesaw to share what they have discovered through their reading!.. Seesaw is private; you’ll only see posts created by your child.
