SS.6.G.1.1- Use latitude and longitude coordinates to understand the relationship between people and places on the Earth.

SS.6.G.1.6- Use a map to identify major bodies of water of the world, and explain ways they have impacted the development of civilizations. 

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

Students will..

  • Students will analyze a timeline and measure time spans between events in both B.C.E. and C.E
  • Students will identify lines of latitude and longitude on a map
  • Students will understand the terms degrees and coordinates and that latitude and longitude are measured in degrees, minutes, and seconds.
  •  Students will locate and identify the equator, prime meridian, tropic of Cancer, and tropic of Capricorn, as well as their latitude and longitude.
  • Students will identify the locations of continents and explain how the major bodies of water impacted the development of different civilizations.
Classroom Activities

Welcome to 6th grade world history/ Advanced world history! 

This week we will focus on:

  • Mrs. Smith’s classroom expectations 
  • Getting to know their teacher and classmates
  • Covering Mrs’s Smith syllabus
  • Discovering differences in Primary and Secondary Sources 
  • Set up our history notebooks and create our first activity “Doodle Notes” Color pages that students will work on while following a power point on Primary and Secondary sources.

No assignments will be due this week 🙂

ALL IEP and ESOL accommodations will be provided daily.
