Buddhism spread in India. 

SS.6.W.4.3- Recognize the political and cultural achievements of the Mauryan Empire. 

SS.6.W.4.5- Summarize the important achievements and contributions of ancient Indian civilization. 

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

Student Goals: 

  • Students will describe Asoka’s conversion to ruling through Buddhism.
  • Students will discuss how Asoka contributed to spreading Buddhism through Asia by sending out missionaries
  • Students will discuss the influence of Hinduism and Buddhism on the Mauryan empire. 
Classroom Activities

Period 1,2,4: Students will discuss who Siddhartha Gutama was and how he became the Buddha. They will complete a venn diagram on both Hinduism and Buddhism. 

Periods: 5,7,8: Students will create imaginary website posters on King Ashoka that include who he was as a leader and his beliefs in Buddhism. 

Students will complete their India Study guide 

Thursday & Friday they will take their summative

Notebook Check will be done this week. I am checking to make sure my students are taking notes, pasting in their vocabulary words we work on every week and are completing their bell-ringers (quick questions) each day. This will be a formative grade in gradebook.

ALL IEP and ESOL accommodations will be provided daily.
