Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

Formative

The learning targets are to successfully review the following Algebra skills:

Solving Equations – students will be able to solve for the variable in a linear equation whether one or multiple steps are involved.

System of Equations – students will be able to solve the ordered pair that solves two equations using substitution and using elimination.

Factoring Quadratics – students will be able to factor a trinomial (a math expression with 3 terms) into the form (ax – b)(cx – d).

Radical Expressions –students will be able to simplify radical expressions to the simplest form.

Understanding the above learning targets will be necessary to be successful in Geometry.

The learning criteria will be judged by mastery of each learning target.  Mastery will be measured by the following:

Solving Equations worksheet – getting 5 out of 7 problems correct – 71% out of 100%.

System of Equations worksheet – getting 4.5 out of 6 problems correct – 75% out of 100%.

Factoring Quadratics worksheet – getting 10.5 out of 15 problems correct – 70% out of 100%.

Radical Expressions worksheet – getting 8.5 out of 12 problems correct – 71% out of 100%.

Bellringer on PEMDAS & Combining Like Terms -5 minutes.

Go over Bellringer answers – 5 minutes.

Give instruction on Solving Equations – 15 minutes.

Give Solving Equations worksheet to do during class time – 25 minutes

Give instruction on System of Equations – 15 minutes.

Give System of Equations worksheet to do during class time – 25 minutes.

Wednesday (Short Class – Early Release Day)

Bellringer on Solving Equations & System of Equations– 10 minutes.

Go over Bellringer and Solving Equations & Systems of Equations worksheets answers – 30 minutes.

Thursday/ Friday

Bellringer on Solving Equations & Systems of Equations -5 minutes.

Go over Bellringer answers – 5 minutes.

Give instruction on Factoring Quadratics – 15 minutes.

Give Factoring Quadratics worksheet to do during class time – 25 minutes

Give instruction on Radical Expressions – 15 minutes.
