Storybook Parade

On Wednesday, October 31st we will be having a Storybook Parade here at Ivy Hawn! All third grade students may dress as any character or animal from the Magic Tree House series. The parade will start at 8:30. More details to come!


Fall Festival

Physical Properties of Matter Pancake Activity

During science next Thursday we will be making pancakes during science as a lesson for the physical properties of matter. If you would like to sign up to donate ingredients/supplies, please use the link below:



Science Learning Targets:  Students will be able to identify and describe physical properties of matter.


Science Learning Activities: Students will measure mass, volume and temperature. We will discuss observable properties and measurable properties.


Math Learning Targets:

We will begin our lessons on measurement and data. Students will be able to record data on a line plot and measure to the nearest fraction of inch.

IXL: W 12-14


Math Learning Activities: Students will explore measurement and recording data. They will organize data on a line plot, measure to the nearest half inch and quarter inch, and collect and display data using fractions of an inch.


ELA Activities: Students will participate in small groups during centers and also practicing on IReady and Istation.

IXL will be for extra practice at home. Every week the strand that is starred/highlighted will be what they can choose from to practice.

ELA Learning Targets: LAFS.3.RL.1.3. Describe characters in a story (e.g., their traits, motivations, or feelings) and explain how their actions contribute to the sequence of events.

Comprehension: “What’s in Store for the Future?” and “An Earful”

Writing Targets: 3.W.3.8 Gather information from sources; take brief notes and sort evidence into categories.

Social Studies: SS.3. A.1.2 Students will be able to define terms related to social studies, including but not limited to, the following: history, geography, civics, government, and economics.
