Welcome to Virtual Learning! Click on the link below to see a special message from your 3rd grade teachers!
Hello Parents! I hope all is well with you! I am excited for our new learning opportunities. I am sure things seem a bit undefined and uncertain right now. I wanted to send this message to try to ease some of our minds. Let’s begin with E-learning and what it is going to look like. To start off, the majority of the platforms that your children will be using are ones that they have used before in class, such as Classroom Connect, vPortal, IXL, iReady, Discovery Science, Freckle and Prodigy. The students are comfortable with these platforms and know how to sign into them. In addition to these, we will also be using Zoom and Edmodo. Below is an outline of what each platform will be used for.
Classroom Connect: This is where you can find the basic lessons outlined for the week with links attached to whatever the students, or you, might need.
Zoom: This will be a new tool for the students to use. This is a video conferencing tool that will allow me to see and speak to the students one-on-one, in small groups, or in a large group virtually. I will be posting video tutorials for how to use Zoom soon. The students will not be required to sign up for an account. They will be able to join a virtual meeting without an account.
Edmodo: This will be a new tool for the students to use. This will basically be our virtual classroom. This is a place where the students will be able to interact with me, and one another, under my supervision. They will be able to post or upload assignments as well as hold class discussions through this site. More information will be coming about this application.
Assignments and lesson plans for the following week will be posted by Friday afternoon on Classroom Connect. There will be video lessons that the students can watch and then practice assignments. Students will also be assigned work that will be graded and I will let you know what those assignments are as they come up. I plan to have the whole week uploaded at once so that the students can work at their own pace if needed.
